Joseph Conrad spent his morning adding a comma, and his afternoon taking it away again; Henry James ominously said of authors that ‘we work in the dark, we do what we can, we give what we have. Our doubt is our passion, and our passion is our task. The rest is the madness of art’.

Writing is essentially a solitary activity; the hours are long, the rewards are slow, self-doubt greets you at every turn. The world is full of talented people who don’t see projects through because the process is too disheartening. I know, only too well, the obstacles every writer must clear in order to reach publication.

 

Good writing is the result of strong ideas, inspired conversations and a great deal of perseverance. One to one mentoring is designed to give you a no-nonsense objective view of your project. Structured as a series of Oxbridge-style face to face tutorials, we will roll up our sleeves and work on your manuscript, sentence by sentence, page by page, chapter after chapter until it is complete and ready to hand in.
